Our Learning Environment

Children learn and play in bright, spacious, and well-equipped classrooms and on two large and shaded outdoor playgrounds. An indoor playground is available during inclement weather.

Special Programs

Our weekly children's yoga program, home visits by teachers, convenient curbside drop-off and pick-up, and fun family events throughout the year enhance your child's experience.

I am a preschooler.

I learn by doing, by playing, by moving (and wiggling, jumping, running, and dancing), by exploring the world around me, by trying things and failing and trying again, and by having teachers that meet me just where I am.

At the Roslyn Co-op, we know how children learn best. That’s why we have been educating children through a hands-on, play-based curriculum since 1951.

Our Educational Approach

We offer a hands-on, play-based approach to learning that engages children in developmentally appropriate activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and problem solving skills.

Parents as Educational Partners

Parents have the opportunity to share in their child’s first school experience and witness the growth and development that occurs throughout the school year through participation days in the classroom.

“I cannot say enough to praise the developmentally sensitive, creative and innovative preschool programs offered at the Co-op. In a culture of over-academic preschool programs, the Co-op encourages learning through play and exploration in an environment of safety and understanding of the individual needs of each child.”

PARENT & TODDLER CLASSES

Spend quality time with your child in our large indoor play space. Our skilled early childhood teachers will lead a short circle time with finger plays, music and movement, followed by activities designed to develop fine and gross motor skills.

TWO'S PROGRAMS

We offer both separating and non-separating options for two year olds. Both programs provide active exploration through creative play and hands-on activities, while nurturing age appropriate social skills. Small class sizes provide for an optimal first school experience.

THREE YEAR OLD PROGRAMS

Children learn through play, as they acclimate to the school environment and create a strong foundation for all future learning endeavors. Teachers guide children in navigating social situations and cooperative play, while establishing a respectful classroom community.

FOUR YEAR OLD PROGRAMS

Children in our pre-kindergarten program continue to learn through play as they develop the skills and concepts necessary to master language, literacy, math, and science. A longer day that includes lunch prepares children for kindergarten and provides additional learning opportunities.

The Roslyn Co-op is truly an extraordinary place that instills independence, confidence, and a love of learning into all of its students. The play-based curriculum does a remarkable job of engaging students and preparing them for kindergarten by giving them the critical academic and social skills they need.

The Co-op is a unique place where you get to be part of an amazing community of parents and teachers. I am forever grateful for the opportunity the school has given me to be a part of my children's first school experience. I always knew participation days were special, but I realized it even more so after my oldest child went to Kindergarten and I was no longer aware of all that goes on in the classroom.
